Growing up on a North Carolina farm in Robeson County, William Barker moved to Raleigh in 1973 to attend N.C. State University. He began real estate sales in 1979, and founded Barker Realty in 1984 as an investment and property management real estate company. William Barker began selling real estate in the Raleigh area in 1979 with Bacon and Company. In 1989, William began building custom homes under William T. Barker Construction. He later formed Barker and Lovette Construction Company, specializing in commercial building renovations and fit-ups. Over this time period, William has also been involved as managing partner in several companies specializing in land development. He has served on the NC Building Code Committee, is a member of the Wake County Home Builders Association, the National HBA, and the Raleigh Board of Realtors
Cindy Minion grew up the daughter of a South Carolina home builder and developer and has literally been in the real estate business all of her life. When she was too old to tag along on job sites, she began working summers and afternoons in the family business. After college, Cindy worked with a resort condominium developer in the development and construction department, designing and building resort condominiums along the east and Gulf coasts. After moving to North Carolina in 1987, Cindy obtained her NC Real Estate License and sold real estate with York Properties, specializing in the Cary and Apex area. In 1994, Cindy joined Barker Realty as Office Manager. Since that time, she has received her Broker’s License and now oversees all activities as Broker-in-Charge.
Marybeth Neblett grew up in New England as the only daughter in a family of nine children; she learned early on what it meant to be a team player! She moved to North Carolina with her husband and two children in 1992. Marybeth has over 30 years of experience working in almost every discipline a company might have – engineering, marketing and sales, finance, administration – as well as working as an independent consultant doing New Product Development for major Fortune 500 companies. Marybeth understands the complexities of running a business! She is a licensed NC Real Estate Broker. Marybeth has been with Barker Realty since January 1997 when she joined the company as the Leasing Property Manager. In January 2000, she was promoted to the Director of Property Management, overseeing Leasing and Maintenance. In 2006 she moved into the newly created role of Director of Fiscal Management. As such she oversees the accounting and risk management functions for Barker Realty, Inc., Barker Property Maintenance Co., Barker & Lovette General Contractors, and W.T. Barker Construction. She is currently pursuing a Certified Residential Management Bookkeeper Certification through NARPM (National Association of Residential Property Management). When not working, she enjoys reading, singing on her church’s Worship Team, and spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren!
David joined the Barker team in June 2017. He has over 10 years of experience in Property Management and has done everything from being a Leasing Agent to a Property Manager. David uses this experience to be an effective Showing Agent for the Barker Realty team. David is also a father of 3, and he enjoys sports, playing chess, poetry, and skydiving.
Debbie joined the Barker team in 2015 and provides a bright and cheerful welcome to anyone who walks in the door at Barker Realty. Debbie can be found greeting customers, answering the phone, and helping residents. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Speech-Communications from North Carolina State University where she was also a member of the Wolfpack Women’s Basketball team. Prior to raising two beautiful daughters, she worked in television, and then Industrial Advertising, preparing technical manuals, catalogs, trade show materials, and working at booths at the large industry shows.
Debbie has also worked part time for several years in direct sales of her own needlework and jewelry designs, as well as another jewelry line. She has a passion for all things handmade, and “sparkly”, and very much enjoys designing and working with color. Debbie also serves as a vocalist on the worship team at her church and is originally from Kingsport, Tennessee.

Veronica joined Barker September 2016. She has an Associate’s Degree in Paralegal Technology, A Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Business Administration with a minor in Project Management. Veronica is the Administrative Assistant for the Affordable Housing Portfolio. Her variety of employment background, as well as personal experience, has allowed Veronica to be compassionate, patient and empathetic with clients. She likes to add value to her position by assisting individuals with placement in a good environment for themselves and their families. Being an Administrative Assistant for the Affordable Housing Program has allowed Veronica to do something she personally enjoys by being an avenue to help families and the community. In Veronica’s spare time she enjoy spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, reading law books, jogging and volunteering as a leader in Girl Scouts.
Karen Chronister joined Barker Realty, Inc. in February 2003 as our Front Desk Receptionist. She was enrolled in the Secretarial Executive Program at Fayetteville Technical Community College in her youth. Karen’s work experience includes over 20 years of Receptionist/Administration duties in a variety of fields including medical, hospitality, and insurance. Karen’s career path has always centered around interpersonal relations and a strong willingness to help others. Her son is a NCSU graduate of the Computer Science Department and will continue into the Master’s Program. In her free time, Karen enjoys the mountains, dancing, and collecting magnets.
BETSY DILLING Property Manager - Traditional Portfolio
Betsy Dilling joined the Barker Realty team in June 2017 as a Property Manager. She is a resident of Garner and has over 25 years of experience in property management. She has her CAM (Certified Apartment Manager), and CAPS (Certified Apartment Property Supervisor) certifications and has taught continuing education in the property management industry. She enjoys working with people and thrives on the challenges that property management can bring. Betsy enjoys gardening, travel and spending time at the lake.
Taylor graduated from N C State in 2003 with a degree in Film/Multi Disciplinary Studies. After college she moved to Wilmington, where she worked as an administrative assistant for a real estate sales office and then as leasing agent for a rental office. In 2009, Taylor moved back to Raleigh and joined Barker Realty. She enjoys the creative side of marketing and advertising, and keeping in touch with current market conditions. Taylor is married and enjoys dancing and trying new recipes!
Janai joined the Barker team in March of 2018. She is currently pursuing her bachelor degree in Business Administration with a minor in Finance and is a certified Administrative Assistant. Prior experience as a leasing consultant and Assistant Property Manager guided her to her new role as an administrative assistant with Barker Realty. Born and raised here in North Carolina, she spends her free time at the coast or lake, in the woods to camp or get some target practice in, or enjoying live bands in downtown Raleigh.
Chris graduated from North Carolina State University in 2010 with a degree in Business Finance. After college, he went to work for his family helping to manage and expand their residential portfolio in the Raleigh area. In May of 2016, Chris joined Barker Realty as a leasing agent and by October had moved his way up to Commercial Property Manager. In his spare time you can find Chris spending time at the beach, trying out new restaurants, or at an NC State sporting event supporting his Wolfpack.
Meredith joined the Barker team in February 2012. She has a bachelor’s degree in Interior Design from Meredith College, a Master of Arts in Christian Education, and has over 10 years of experience in a variety of professional settings. Her training in design and her past experiences have allowed Meredith to bring a fresh perspective to the Barker marketing team. Meredith is the Marketing Specialist for Barker Realty, Barker Property Maintenance, and The Barker Construction Group where her role includes print material design, brand implementation, web design, project photography, and marketing campaigns. Meredith has a love of travel and has traveled through Europe and Africa. These travel experiences have taught her that creativity, being patient, and flexibility goes a long way in any situation. Meredith also enjoys cooking with her husband Chris, spending time with their new baby boy, painting, and serving with her church.
Paige joined the Barker team in February 2017. She has an Associate’s Degree in Accounting, a Bachelor’s degree in ministry and over 20 years of experience in accounting and other professional settings. Paige is the Accounting Assistant for Barker Realty and Barker Property Maintenance. She enjoys spending time traveling to unique places, finding the simple pleasures in life, being young with her grandchildren and daughter, preaching and serving in her church and helping others.
Travis grew up in Turkey, NC on his family farm where he raised vegetables and livestock and learned the value of hard work and the love of the land. His grandfather had rental property and he helped him in his spare time with the prep and as he got older the operation and management of his rentals. Eventually, this led to his interest in real estate and the pursuit of a career in property management.
He has one son, who will be entering Wake Tech in the fall to stuCybersecurityity and networking and is married to the former Annette Leffman. In his spare time, he enjoys being with his family, serving in his church, and restoring and showing antique farm equipment and tools.
Shari joined the Barker Team in March of 2017. She is originally from central New York where she grew up on her family’s dairy farm. She attended SUNY Morrisville, majoring in Hospitality. Prior to moving to North Carolina, she owned and operated an organizing company. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, camping, organizing/planning, and baking!

A Raleigh native, Mr. Zevenhuizen attended both the University of North Carolina Wilmington and Chapel Hill. A licensed real estate broker in North Carolina since 2000, his career has encompassed construction, renovation and development of commercial, industrial, historical and multi-family properties in the Research Triangle area. His current focus is in sales (Commercial and Residential) and leasing (Commercial). He enjoys serving his community through civic and charitable causes. He is married with two daughters.
