Mission

Our people make the difference through personal attention and exemplary service

Just like building a custom home, building a business does not happen overnight. It requires education (both formal and informal), experience, and more experience. Most importantly, a skilled and well-chosen team is vital to success. Barker Realty is more than just another real estate company. We are an experienced community built over time.

Starting From The Ground Up

William Barker, the owner, and founder of Barker Realty is a native to North Carolina. Growing up on the farmlands in Robeson County, sweat and hard work were not foreign to William. His parents taught him the valuable lessons of persistence, integrity, and faith. In 1973, William moved to the “big town” of Raleigh to attend NC State University. By 1979, he had obtained his real estate license and began learning the residential sales business – cold calls, showing property, inspection reports, and contracts. In addition, he became a property investor himself and began learning property management as he sought to lease and handle his own personal property.

First Office

As William learned how to manage his own property, others began to entrust him with their investments as well and in 1984 Barker Realtors [later becoming Barker Realty, Inc.] was born.

Barker Realtors moved into a small brick building near the corner of Western Blvd. and Gorman Street.

Due to the location of this first office, Barker Realty managed a large portion of student properties. However, over time, Barker’s reach now spans to over 800 managed units in Wake, Durham , and Johnston Counties.

"Let each of you look not only to his own interests,

but also to the interests of others..."
